three dollar a gallon gas… and SOON?
Not because our nation has figured out the mastery of green technology and alternative fuels, but for various other reasons a Yahoo news article claims that gas prices could be $3 or less a gallon in time for the holidays!
The article states
On Friday, fears of a global recession helped drive down U.S. crude oil futures prices more than 10 percent to the lowest settlement since September 2007.
The Lundberg Survey this article is based on says
Gasoline demand will continue to shrink in our weak economic condition, and retailers, who have been receiving deep buying price cuts, will be anxious to pass through any further price cuts they receive quickly. They need the sales.
To be honest, I have no idea. I’m no economist, but I am convinced that we will not again have economic stability until we devote our time, resources, and capitol toward alternative energy investments… meaning it’s time we STOP wishing for and relying on gas prices dropping. That logic will only going to keep us on the same roller coaster currently nauseating us.
Think about it. Hurricanes. Volatile housing market. Crumbling bank institutions. A very important election season within days of us.
And we can never discount the unexpected. No one saw 9/11 coming. No one saw hanging chads coming. No one saw Katrina coming. No one saw our WaMu/AIG/etc fiasco coming (at least not like this).
Do we want to assume anything about what we think we know? Or should we move toward change?

I’m with ya. The key is a complete stop to the use of fossil fuels of any kind. The tech is there, the investment needs to be made both privately and from the government. They FINALLY extended the solar investment credits as part of the economic bailout. More needs to be done. Depending on how the election goes, we will either be drilling for oil anywhere and everywhere and building new nuclear plants wherever they can fit one.. or we will be creating a fleet of fuel efficient cars, building wind, solar and geothermal energy plants, expanding public transportation and creating uncountable well paying and fulfilling jobs that will improve our world. I think this is basically a no brainer.
I think maybe we should all drive like gas is 20 bucks a gallon.
If we drove like gas is $20 a gallon, we’d be healthy healthy people for SO many reasons besides the exercise! I love that idea, Allie!
I’m with you Jake. I’m actually pissed so many add-ons ended up on the approved bailout, proving to me that the bailout bill wasn’t passed because the bill is what’s right for the country, but because enough backs were scratched for individual politicians’ own advantage that they were willing to change their votes…
On that rant, I will at least say that the solar investment credits make it a not completely sour note… The coming election is HUGE. Whew… fingers crossed and prayers said.
